Unity Church of Greenville volunteers choose to care for one another in a multitude of ways. Programs are lovingly provided to support congregational members going through life’s challenges and difficult times.
Volunteer Team Members are men, women, couples and entire families who commit one to four hours a month to provide prayer, phone call support, compassion cards, emails, helping hands support, memorial hospitality and/or hospital visitation. This is to the comfort level of the volunteer and is based on availability, interest and need.

The foundation of Unity is PRAYER. It is a very integral part of our ministry. The Unity approach to prayer is affirmative, based on positive prayers and affirmations that have universal, interfaith appeal.
As a Prayer Volunteer, you have the opportunity to pray for people in times of need. The Prayer Team meets every Sunday morning immediately following the 11:30 am service.
When there is an urgent prayer request, the Prayer Chain is activated and Prayer Volunteers are asked to pray for the requested need.
Hospital Volunteers visit local hospitals or hospice to bring comfort to hospitalized members of the congregation. They provide caring comfort and companionship to those who are ill, grieving, lonely, depressed or going through life stresses.
Pertinent information is provided to the Hospital Team Volunteers about congregants in the hospital. The Volunteers visit, call, send cards and/or emails and assist in other ways to provide support for the congregant, as needed.
Helping Hands Volunteers support others by providing casseroles or simple dishes that are taken to members’ homes when they are just home from the hospital, have just given birth, are ill, there is a congregational death or other major life challenges.
When a church member has a close family member that passes, they will often request a memorial service to be held at our church. Memorial Hospitality Volunteers assist the minister by providing hospitality to family and friends of the deceased during the time before and after the memorial service. Refreshments such as coffee and juice and light meal items are provided in a caring atmosphere.
Carry each other’s burdens,
and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
-Gal. 6:2
“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”
